Cocktails using shrubs? What's that?

You may have seen on our website we’ve started producing shrubs - a type of fruity syrup which can be used to make drinks. As you can imagine, our favourite thing to do is to combine these shrubs with alcohol to make some truly scrumptious cocktails. There are millions you can make, but we thought we’d share our top three; each one using one of our new shrubs.

First up is our extra-special Strawberry and Mint Shrub which, combined with some gin makes a delightful...

Strawberry mint fizz

Find your fanciest glass and fill it halfway with ice cubes. Grab a cocktail shaker, add in the gin, the shrub and shake to your heart’s content. Pour into the glass and top up with prosecco/soda water. Pop in some fresh mint and voila!

Next up is our raspberry and ginger shrub, which can be used in our…

 Mighty mojitos!

Pop the lime juice, sugar and mint into a jug and muddle using a muddler, making sure you crush all of the mint. Pop into a glass and add in the shrub. Fill with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and stir gently using a long-handled spoon. Finish with soda water. Enjoy!

Our third cocktail uses our Spiced Apple and Bramble shrub - just what you need for any holiday festivities. Even better, it involves some of our fabulous honey!! Please enjoy our…

Spicy toddy

  • 2 tbsp SBC heather honey
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • SBC shrub
  • 2 tsp whole cloves
  • 250ml of bourbon (your choice)
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice (fresh)
  • Slices of apple to garnish
  • 1 cups of water

Combine the shrub, water, cinnamon sticks and cloves in a suacepan. Stir and allow to simmer, until reduced down to a thick consistency. Remove from the heat and cover, for 10 minutes. Strain out all of the solids, then stir the lemon juice and bourbon. This should make enough for 6 mugs - garnish with a slice of apple!

 Enjoy!

We’ve done a blog on what shrubs are which you can check out here. These are part of our new ranges, which include vinegars and gift sets. Why not try the whole range of shrubs (and vinegars) on our website?
