Lemon - full of vitamin C, boost hydration (which is very important when you are ill) Fluids thin out the mucus and stops you getting dehydrated as your body works hard to fight the virus. Lemon also reduces phlegm.
Warm/hot water allow all of these ingredients to dissolve or soften and blend together to make a smooth liquid.
