We worked exclusively with a head bartender at The Clove Club in London to create a selection of cocktail recipes using our shrub drinks. Clove Club is a Michelin star restaurant producing outstanding food using top-notch seasonal British ingredients so we’re absolutely delighted to collaborate with them and show you what Hamish has created!
Firstly, do you know what shrub drinks are? They are very popular in the mixology industry but they’re not widely recognised elsewhere. Read our blog about what shrub drinks are here → SHRUB DRINKS!
Introducing… The Melrose. For this cocktail, you’ll need our strawberry and mint shrub and blossom honey for the syrup. Grab your own strawberry and mint shrub drink here and a jar of blossom honey here.
Hamish recommends a well barrel aged whiskey such as auchentoshan 3 wood, balvenie caribbean cask or lyre’s american malt for 0 proof
Honey syrup is used in cocktails similarly to a simple syrup, adding complexity as well as a natural sweetness. The type of honey used for honey syrup really varies depending on the type of cocktail you’re making. For example, milder honeys such as our blossom honey, match well with brighter cocktails whereas richer and earthier honey such as our heather honey, work best in dark-spirit drinks.
For this recipe, we recommend using our blossom honey.
We’ve very kindly been given a selection of cocktail recipes from Hamish at The Clove Club. We will be sharing them across the next couple months on our blogs so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming collaborative recipes.
